About

Nice to meet you.

I'm Arias Shadle, and After School Art is how I bring fresh art lessons to kids: lessons that embolden artistic ability and inspire creative courage. I teach after school at elementary schools across Humboldt County, and in my home studio in Eureka.

How I teach

A few things I promise every family.

  • High-quality art materials

I use high-grade watercolor paper, oil pastels, tooling foil, and clay that I fire and glaze. These materials have a way of elevating student effort.

  • Innovative lessons

Grounded in fine art principles, inspired by contemporary trends, and elevated by the magic of individual expression.

  • A low teacher-to-student ratio

Each class is capped at 16 so every child feels encouraged and excited, and every art piece is appreciated.

  • It's your child's art

I will never intervene on your child's paper. It is incredible what a little encouragement and enthusiasm will do.

Kind words

“Whenever my girls come, they learn a new technique and they create stunning fabulous artwork I did not know they were capable of. I've ended up with framable artwork that I have displayed in my home and you can see their growth and their development as artists over the years. I think that we are really lucky to have Ms. Arias guiding them because she helps them challenge their own idea of what they can do and they discover that their limits are not what they thought.”
Jessica Ellis, Parent of two students, from the program's Laguna Beach years

I look forward to meeting you!
